The need: Our culture is full of people who need to hear the word of God, but who will not come to church to hear it, because a hateful Christian or a false Gospel have hurt them.
Our answer: James 2:15-16 says, “If a brother or a sister is poorly clothed and lacking food for the day, and one of you should say to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but does not give them what is necessary for the body, what is the benefit?” (LEB) Modern studies tell us that food insecurity is a devastating plight on the family unit that can cause the same biological response as child abuse or neglect, and has been known to cause lifelong health impairments, developmental and cognitive delays, and mood disorders. These are humans who are suffering under the weight of sin in our world. By partnering with our congregation partners to provide hot meals to hungry bellies, we draw in an audience that may not have entered a church for spiritual food, but by feeding their physical hunger, we have a captive audience that will be presented the Gospel message, personal conversion testimonies, and bible studies. Because, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4 ESV)
